What is SASE?

The Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) was founded in November 2007 to help Asian heritage scientific and engineering professionals achieve their full potential. Organizations existed for other affinity groups – The National Society of Black Engineers, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, and the Society of Women Engineers – and there was a need for a similar organization where students representing all of the pan Asian cultures could connect and support each other.

In 2008 research was conducted among leading universities and there was strong support for SASE. All of the professors and administrators from the schools included in the survey said that having a SASE chapter on campus would provide important opportunities for networking and mentoring for their students.

During the summer of 2008 10 Asian heritage interns at The Procter & Gamble Company developed the materials that they and other students would need to start a SASE chapter at their schools. These materials are now available via the SASE website for any student that wants to establish a new SASE chapter.

SASE is a young organization and we welcome companies and individuals to support our efforts to connect across cultures and companies to enable Asian heritage scientific and engineering professionals to achieve their full potential.
